Thursday 13: Younger reading
I blame Jeannie Lin for this. She mentioned the first book and it started me down memory lane and damn, there are a lot of potholes in that road. Anyway, here are 13 books I read when I was far to young(under 16) that helped shape me. Some were fabulous, others, well, they taught me something so I guess that means they were important. I can pinpoint something I learned in each of these books that, in some way, shaped who I am.

I read some of those in college for a class!
*hugs*

My TT is at http://paigetylertheauthor.blogspot.com/
My molding years were radically different, although I did read One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest.
Fun list! The first book I remember my teacher reading to us was “How to Eat Fried Worms”. What does that say about me?
Wow, what memories…Go Ask Alice was a real turning point when the book was published.
I read several of these – and I’m old enough to remember when “The Outsiders” became a movie. …sigh…
“Stay gold, Ponyboy…”
Happy TT!
What a fun list! Thanks for sharing your TBR pile!
Great list, Inez. And a number of those shaped me, as well. along with, you know, a whole passel of Judy Blume.
Nice list. Island of the Blue Dolphins had a big effect on me, but so did the works of Judy Blume, R.L. Stine and Beverly Clearly, even The Babysitters Club and Bridge to Terabithia. A Wrinkle in Time and (don’t ask) V.C. Andrews. Too many more to count.
Hmm, I don’t know what young books shaped me? Possibly Nancy Drew and Mickey Spillane. And Waiting for Daphne, which is the first bk I read w/out a happy ending. THAT stuck w/ me for yrs.
Oh the Kent Family Chronicles!!! I read those. And “Dune”. That was a huge one for me.
Great list.
Happy TT.

Well, anyone who’s read Scruples knows what THAT one taught you
Great list, girl.
