Tuesday marked the release of my first published story – Dining In at Freya’s Bower.
I am beyond thrilled, obviously, to have reached this milestone, and want to share with others. So, I will be giving away a copy of Dining In. I’ll pick a winner at random from the comments on the thread – if you are interested in winning, just leave a comment and I’ll pick a winner Saturday after noon Eastern time.
Now, for release of the emotional kind. We are on vacation in Florida. Yesterday we took a loooong drive and went to Disney. My 4 yo was ecstactic, even though she’s fighting off a cold. We had dinner with Cinderella, Prince Charming, and the Tremaynes. Munchkin was over the moon.
DH and I, however, were not so over the moon. It’s spring break, and Disney was PACKED. we didn’t get to ride any of the good rides – all we got to do in the entire 6 hours between arrival and dinner was Tom Sawyer’s Island, meet Ariel, and ride Cinderella’s Carousel. We did to see the parade (and, boy, was that popular with the Munchkin!), and the dinner was outstanding. They pulled Munchkin out to help open the doors, and she was escorted to the table by Cinderella and Prince Charming. I’ve never seen such stunned delight on her face. Because of that, we were seated at table #1, which meant that Prince Charming, Cinderella, Lady Tremayne, Anastasia and Drusilla all visited us first. sweeeeeeet.
Disney is, IMHO, the very embodiment of the idea of escapism in modern society – a place to dream, a place of happy endings, a place of the fantastical. And because it is, what better place for a romance writer to recharge?
